V2X - Integrated Solution

A communication is the passing of information from a vehicle to any entity that may affect the vehicle, and vice versa. SnapSoft partnered with leading innovators to implement a custom-made software into the complex environment. Connected Car industry is taking huge progress with in the awakening of self-driving cars and infrastructure providers. All key-players, like innovators, hardware suppliers, infrastructure providers and car manufacturers have their own custom solutions, where standardized communication protocols are set to roll-out globally. Partnered with a leading innovator in the field, SnapSoft software development team deployed an integrated a solution to communicate with the user, the connected hardware, and back-end infrastructure seamlessly. The scope included stages where Connected Vehicle Roadside Unit provided wireless communications from roadside infrastructure to vehicle On Board Units. The project included high security standards, world class development environment, and compliance with the strict standards from the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), ITS (Intelligent Transport System), ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), ISO, CEN (European Committee for Standardization).

The main challenge was the automated testing of the delivered software, where the bottleneck was emulating the environment programmed on the hardware. Further challenges occurred during the integration related to the hardware interfaces was only discovered after the planning phase of the project. Our solution to this difficulty was a hardware API specific refactoring, which had been done easily in few weeks thanks to our unit tests without removing any implemented functionalities.

We had to overcome another challenge that related to working out an abstract component both on the frontend and backend side of the application which integrates different – only partially compatible – standards. As a result of resolving this challenge we kept up high level code quality and saved significant cost for our startup phase partner.

The most interesting challenge was the need for onsite presence of Commsignia’s and our team in South Korea for a short period of time at the client of Commsignia. Despite the cultural differences we were able to handle that and successfully delivered the necessary requirements.
